Why do people always want more?

People always want more, whether they already have a lot of it or not. Give examples of money, jewels, and other possesives, or actions such as power.

  1. The reason people want more actually depends on the lifestyle in which the person lives in. Most of the time, they find enjoyment in doing something, they feel safe with more of the item, they just want more to fulfill their never-ending heart's desires, and other reasons which do not come at me at this moment.
For example, people want more moeny probably because they desire many things that they think can be bought with money. After people are rich, I don't know why they want even more moeny. I guess money doesn't only buy things, it buys positiion and power. Also, people probably just feel more secure with more money. People murder maybe for two reasons. People should never murder, but I guess it keeps down the human population which is already so overpowering???? One reason people like to kill is maybe because they have something going on with the person, whether they are enemies, the vicitm has something the predator wants, or to stop the victim from doing something, all mostly for selfish reasons. Another horrid reason may be that the killer just likes to kill; killing addiction. I don't know how that can be possible, because that is just too horrible to me, but I may never know, because I am not a killer and I never will be!

  2. I do not know why humans always want more, but when they get more, they are only living in the moment.

  3. I just looked back at the Hindu epics, and I found another totally different answer to this question!
Can you believe the more people have, the more they want? In the stories, there is this King of the demonic race, who's name is King Bali. Compared to most othr kings, he was a pretty good king, making justice, because both his father and grandfather were really good people and good followers of god.
The thing was, if King Bali did 100 yagas (special rituals,) he will not only rule the Earth he conquered, but he will get the heavens uder his rule also. His special guru and sage, Shukracharya told him right before they started their 100th yaga that the gods will surely try to stop them. In my opinion, the gods are just selfish, ambitionless, and they always try to stay in power, even if that means putting down the people who worked hard for all their powers (the demons). As the sage had predicted, the gods told the ultimate lord, Vishnu. Vishnu told them that those who do penence will definatly recieve their award. However, after much convincing, Vishnu accepted. He took incarnation at Earth as the Vaman avatar, and became a monk, and in ancient India, monks are very much respected. Vishnu did manage to take all of King Bali's wealth away, as well as his life, but he was so pleased wih Bali's actions, that he said to Bali that he will rule the entire world at a certain era, and he will live in heaven for eternity.
As the Vaman avatar, he had told Bali "Even after coquering the entire world, even after having all you need, you still want to have more and more and take over the heavens. The truth is, the more people have, the more they want and becaome greedy. Monks like us are only allowed to take what we need."
